3 Hours Before Flight Time
Arrival at Juba International Airport. You’ll meet with our English-speaking guide, who will drive you to the hotel. After checking in, you will be called for a briefing about tomorrow’s programs. Accommodation in the hotel with dinner provided.
After breakfast in the hotel, you will drive to the supper Market to purchase snacks and chocolates of your choice. After that, you will drive to the Eastern part of the country through the main highway connecting South Sudan and Kenya; arrive at Torit Town, where you’ll have your lunch while the guide clears up permits with State Authorities. After, you’ll continue your journey for another 3 hours to Katire ( the town center of Imatong people). On your way, you will enjoy the beauty of nature, mountains, green forests, and birds singing. And more so, the Kinyeti waterfalls behind the Imo Resort, the old British buildings within the Kinyeti River banks. Overnight in the Imo Resort with dinner provided.
Early morning after breakfast at 6.00 am, you will drive through the steep zigzag escarpment road created by the British during the 2nd World War. Arrive at the Gilo forest lumbering site. Here is where the cars stop, and you go hiking through the green forest to the second camp. Overnight in the tents with packed dinner or the helpers cook. Here you should have covered the height of 2600 meters.
Early morning at 5.30 Am, you will wake up to finish the race to the summit at exactly the time of sunrise(it takes 2 hours). While at the summit of Mt Kinyeti, you’ll have a view of Mt Imatong on the South East, coreopsis yellow flowers, wild black rabbits, birds, and mountain Antelopes and also be able to see the Agoro District of Uganda. It’s very cold and windy at the top, so each one is advised to wear heavy jackets. You can spend 2-3 hours exploring the peak of Mt Kinyeti. After that, you will then slope back to the camp for breakfast. Afterward, you’ll slope back to Gilo (5-6 hours), where you will relax and then have a nature walk exploring the Imatong peasant farmers’ villages on the mountain slopes. Overnight in the tents within the village.
After breakfast at 7:30am, you will slope to the main junction where you will meet with cars that will have by that time arrived to pick you up. You will then drive to Katire- Imo Resort Hotel, have lunch, take cool bathe and then drive back to juba. On Your way you’ll have lunch at Torit hotel. Overnight Radisson blue hotel or Pyramid continental hotel.
This day is to be chosen for those interested in visiting the Mundari cattle herders, can After breakfast, drive to Mundari cattle camp at noon and camp there. Those not interested can have a city tour and the After lunch drive to the airport for their flight back home.
This is the day only for those that choose to visit Mundari. So, after the morning’s last photos with Mundari, you will drive to Juba and have a shower at the well center in the hotel, have lunch, and then drive to the airport for your flight back home.
